≪Special case for permission to change the status of residence for participants in the K-Startup Grand Challenge ≫

◇ K-Startup Grand Challenge* Allows foreigners who have been recommended by Minister Joong Ben after establishing a corporation as a participant to change the status of residence for technical start-up (D-8-4) (academic qualifications and score system not applied)

* This is a project managed by Jungbenbu, and supports the establishment and commercialization of a corporation for technology start-up after a certain period (3~4 months) in Korea by inviting about 40 outstanding overseas start-up talents to Korea.

※ Eligible for special exceptions is limited to short-term foreigners who entered Korea to participate in the K-Startup Grand Challenge at the invitation of Jung-Benbu (if the representative of an overseas corporation that is commercializing or possessing the technology registered at the time of participating in the K-Startup Grand Challenge or an employee belonging to it Excluding special cases)

Must have scored more than 80 points out of a total of 448 points according to the scoring system

Established a Korean corporation* and completed corporate registration and business registration

* Refers to newly established corporation, not applicable to the acquisition of existing corporation

* Refers to a corporation in a field related to the ‘required item’ of the point system acquired by him/her, such as intellectual property rights, or a corporation in the technical field registered when participating in the K-Startup Grand Challenge.

Required documents for changing status of residence in Korea

① Application form (Attachment No. 34), passport, alien registration card (applicable person), 1 standard photo

② A copy of all corporate registration information and business registration certificate

③ A copy of the degree certificate or recommendation from the head of the relevant central administrative agency

④ Documents proving the item (and score) applicable to the score system

-A copy of the patent certificate, utility model registration certificate, design registration certificate for those who hold (register) intellectual property rights

-Applicants such as patents have a certificate of application issued by the Commissioner of the Intellectual Property Office

-Proof of completion (completion, graduation) related items (completion, graduation) certificate issued by the head of the “Global Entrepreneurship Immigration Center” designated by the Minister of Justice

-Documents proving other points related to the score system

Documents required when extending the period of stay in Korea

① Application form (Attachment No. 34), passport, alien registration card (applicable person), 1 standard photo

② A copy of all corporate registration information and business registration certificate

③ Copy of degree certificate or recommendation from the head of the relevant central administrative agency

④ Documents proving that you have intellectual property rights or have equivalent technology

⑤ Copy of patent certificate (Patent Office), utility model registration certificate (Patent Office), design registration certificate (Patent Office), trademark registration certificate (Patent Office), etc.

⑥ Official letter from the relevant government department that can prove that it is a startup item selected for a government-supported project (specify the name of the foreigner), etc.

⑨ Documents proving the place of stay (rental contract, confirmation of accommodation provision, postal notice of expiration of the period of stay, receipt of utility bill, dormitory fee receipt, etc.)
